For over 130 years, Avon has been providing opportunity for women enterpreneurs to earn money by selling beauty products through their social networks.  Today Avon has 6 million reps in over 60 countries.  After a 30 year career at Unilever, Jan Zijderveld became the CEO of Avon in February 2018 with the challenge of transforming the organization to deliver digital beauty sales with a human touch.

Scott Snyder, Partner at Heidrick & Struggles, and author of Goliath’s Revenge: How Established Companies Turn the Tables on Digital Disruptors, will talk about the six rules for companies successfully transforming themselves for the digital era and ask Jan to highlight how Avon plans to successfully manage this shift.  One of Jan’s keys to success is using Avon’s powerful purpose and global movement, to fuel the major changes in the organization needed to achieve their digital ambition.

Speaker's biography

Scott Snyder is a recognised thought leader in technology and innovation, with more than 25 years’ experience in business and technology leadership at GE, Lockheed Martin and several start-up ventures. He currently leads digital and innovation for Heidrick & Struggles and was recently Chief Technology and Innovation officer at Venture Firm Safeguard Scientifics. He also co-founded and served as President and Chief Strategy Officer of Mobiquity, a leader in delivering innovative digital solutions for enterprises, where he continues to be Chairman of the Advisory Board.

Scott has authored two books, Goliath’s Revenge: How Established Companies Turn the Tables on Digital Disruptors and The New World of Wireless: How to Compete in the 4G Revolution, and numerous articles on emerging technologies and innovation.

He is a Senior Fellow in the Management Department at the Wharton School, an Adjunct Faculty Member in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania, and has lectured at MIT, Babson, Duke, Georgia Tech and INSEAD on digital innovation, emerging technologies, business and IT strategy and new venture creation.

Scott founded and directs the Game Changer Collaborative, comprising leading companies focused on cross-sector digital innovation opportunities, and holds three patents for analytics solutions.
